Louisiana Medical Group Management Association

MGMA-Louisiana Organization History

Louisiana Medical Practice Managers Association was formed in 1972, and incorporated with the Louisiana Secretary of State.

Bylaws were created in 1992.

In 1994, the Louisiana Medical Practice Managers Association was the name of our organization. The Board of Directors created and implemented the Mission Statement, Goals, and Vision 2000, and established a State Office. The following year, Suzie Smith was named Executive Director.

This board established three goals, shown below. Through subsequent years, following the lead of our national MGMA, the association name was changed three more times: to Louisiana Medical Group Managers Association (LMGMA), and then to Louisiana Medical Group Management Association, and to its current name of MGMA-Louisiana.
